O2vie: A Voice from Africa

The director of O2vie, Dodji Juliette Kpessou, is a journalist, writer, host, blogger, and YouTuber. She lives with her husband in Porto Novo, the capital of the Republic of Benin. Interview.

Juliette, what is your role on the air?
Since August 2013, I have been sharing the Gospel with everyone through Hosanna Radio, a media outlet of the Protestant Methodist Church of Benin. As the head of the Programming Department, I also host the news broadcasts.

How did you discover Radio Réveil?
It was in January 2019 at that fabulous training session for Christian radio professionals from French-speaking Africa in Lomé, Togo—a melting pot of experiences where I had the pleasure of meeting Emmanuel Ziehli, director of Radio Réveil.

How and why did you create the O2vie column?
O2vie is a motivational segment based on the Word of God. It started out as a written column that I posted on social media and my blog. That’s when the audio adventure began with Radio Réveil and my YouTube channel. The water of life—a daily drop from God’s inexhaustible spring. It’s my way of sharing the Good News through the lens of Africa.

You asked for an introduction to this column written in a very specific tone.
Radio is the voice; and Africa is the power of the voice, of the spoken word. The tone is chosen deliberately because it evokes the image of an old sage in the moonlight reciting a tale. It is a sign of Africa’s mystery, a voice that invites us on life’s journey. In cinema, this is known as “the Voice of God.”

We are one, bound together by love. God loves you, and I love you, too. Here are my three daily goals: be yourself, be true to yourself, and believe in God.
